Côte-Rôtie, Rhône, France
E. Guigal
The most important name in the Rhône Valley, Guigal built its reputation on three legendary single-vineyard Côte-Rôtie cuvées and consistently outstanding wines across the entire region.
History
Étienne Guigal founded the house in 1946 in Ampuis, at the heart of the Côte-Rôtie. His son Marcel took over in 1961 and transformed the estate into the dominant force in the northern Rhône, acquiring key vineyards including La Mouline, La Landonne and La Turque.
Marcel's single-vineyard Côte-Rôtie cuvées, aged for 42 months in new oak, attracted the attention of Robert Parker, who awarded them 100 points repeatedly in the 1980s and 1990s, propelling Guigal and the Rhône to international prominence.
Style and Character
Guigal produces wines across the whole Rhône appellation, from everyday Côtes du Rhône to the extraordinary La La La single-vineyard cuvées. The "La Las" (La Mouline, La Landonne, La Turque) are massively concentrated, deeply coloured Syrah-based wines aged for 42 months, combining extraordinary power with great complexity.
INVESTMENT NOTES
Why collectors and investors pay attention
The three single-vineyard Côte-Rôtie cuvées (La Mouline, La Landonne and La Turque) are among the most collectable wines of the northern Rhône, with production of only a few hundred cases each and a devoted international following. Their track record of perfect scores and long ageing potential underpins resilient demand.
Key Wines

The most elegant of the three, with around 11% Viognier co-fermented.
Côte-Rôtie La Landonne

Côte-Rôtie La Turque
The most recently acquired single-vineyard wine, combining power and finesse.
Château d'Ampuis
