Vosne-Romanée and others, Burgundy, France
Domaine Leroy
The creation of Lalou Bize-Leroy, the Queen of Burgundy, Domaine Leroy produces some of the rarest, most expensive and most sought after wines in the world.
History
Lalou Bize-Leroy, daughter of négociant Henri Leroy, has been a towering figure in Burgundy for decades and was for many years co-director of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, in which her family holds a stake. In 1988 she established Domaine Leroy, acquiring the vineyards of two existing estates and immediately converting them to biodynamic farming, a revolutionary step in Burgundy at the time.
Style and Character
Leroy is defined by an uncompromising pursuit of perfection: tiny yields, old vines, meticulous biodynamic farming and rigorous selection. The wines are intense, pure and profoundly complex, with the capacity to age for decades. They are widely regarded as among the very finest wines made anywhere today.
INVESTMENT NOTES
Why collectors and investors pay attention
Domaine Leroy's combination of microscopic production, fanatical quality and almost cult-like collector demand has driven values to extraordinary levels, frequently rivalling or exceeding DRC. The wines are exceptionally rare and tightly allocated, making them among the most valuable and sought after holdings in the entire fine wine market.
