Cellar Advisor | September Global Releases.

September is one of the busiest periods in the fine wine calendar. While Bordeaux En Primeur often dominates attention, the autumn release season has increasingly become a global affair, with many of the world's most sought-after wines coming to market via La Place de Bordeaux.
The Bordeaux négociant system provides producers with unparalleled global reach, allowing leading estates from Italy, the United States, Australia and beyond to access the world's key fine wine markets through a single distribution network.
Whilst more than 50 wines are likely to be released throughout the month, our focus will remain deliberately selective and guided by our investment criteria. Any participation will depend on release pricing, quality, market positioning and secondary market liquidity. We are primarily interested in wines with proven global demand, established trading histories and strong brand recognition among collectors.
Release dates will be spread throughout September rather than concentrated on a single day. As opportunities emerge, we will provide individual analysis on each wine should it meet our criteria and warrant an allocation.
Importantly, unlike many merchants, we are not obliged to purchase every new vintage. Any participation will be entirely objective and driven by value and investment merit rather than producer relationships or allocation commitments.

Masseto (Italy)Often described as the "Pétrus of Italy", Masseto is one of the world's most prestigious and collectible wines. Produced from a single hillside vineyard in Bolgheri and made entirely from Merlot, it combines extreme scarcity with global demand. Few non-Bordeaux wines have established such a strong secondary market presence.

Solaia (Italy)Produced by the influential Antinori family, whose success with Tignanello helped define the Super Tuscan category, Solaia is one of Italy's most celebrated wines. Consistently achieving high critic scores and produced in limited quantities, it enjoys strong international demand and a proven track record among collectors.

Opus One (United States)A landmark partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi, Opus One remains the most internationally recognised American fine wine. Its combination of prestige, global distribution and deep collector demand has created one of the most liquid secondary markets outside Europe.

Penfolds Grange (Australia)Australia's flagship wine, Penfolds Grange, enjoys a particularly strong following across Asia, where it is one of the region's most recognised fine wine brands. The removal of Chinese tariffs on Australian wine has strengthened the long-term demand outlook, reopening a key export market for premium Australian labels. Combined with its heritage, scarcity and collectability, Grange remains one of the most important New World wines from an investment perspective

Château Palmer (Bordeaux)Château Palmer is widely regarded as one of Bordeaux's greatest estates, often competing with First Growth quality despite its Third Growth classification. Crucially, production is significantly lower than many leading Médoc peers, enhancing scarcity. Combined with its consistent critical acclaim and strong global following, Palmer remains one of the most compelling wines released through La Place.
As the September campaign unfolds, we will evaluate each release on its own merits, focusing on pricing relative to market value, vintage quality, critical reception and long-term investment potential. Where opportunities arise, we will provide detailed analysis and recommendations accordingly.
Given the anticipated demand for many of this year's releases, allocations are likely to be limited. I would therefore encourage you to register your interest in advance so we can help ensure you have access to the wines most relevant to your collecting and investment objectives.
